1.) Provide an example of a time when a leaders actions were influenced by cultural differences.

I work as a grad assistant as rec center at Ship and I have hired international students to work the check-in desk. When I initially went through the training, I made sure to explain to everyone the importance of showing up on time. A particular international student from Nigeria had a completely different sense of time and for the first two shifts showed up 10 minutes late. Now, it could just be him being lazy but after speaking with him it seemed that in his culture time was not as important and that things were more laid back.

It really depends on the relationship I have developed with the leader and how they present the criticism. I respect anyone who addresses an issue right away and not wait until the last second to say something where that is no time to take corrective actions. Those who present it to give actual feedback and improve myself or the team I take a lot better than someone who is just negative and wants to "call someone out".

3.) Which of the 10 leadership attributes that project GLOBE developed would you use to describe the stereotypical American CEO?

For the stereotypical American I believe the "Collectivism versus Individualism" where Americans fall on the individual side where describe us the most. The perceptions around the world is how everyone is out for themselves in America where greed and power are so important. As you can see from the Wall Street movie it sensationalizes how individuals will not worry about the group but themselves first to succeed in a professional setting.
