A law supposedly applicable to voting behaviour which has a history of several decades. It may be stated thus: Consider a two-party system and suppose that the representatives of the two parties are elected according to a single member district system. Then the share of the number of representatives selected is nearly equal to the third power of the ratio of the national votes attained by the two parties.
