A cylindrical wooden storage vat has a 20 ft outside

A cylindrical wooden storage vat has a 20 ft outside diameter. It is filled with 24 feet of brine with a specific gravity of 1.06. The wooden staves making up the vat are bound by flat steel bands evenly spaced vertically around the tank. Each band is 2-inches wide and ¼-inch thick. The allowable stress in each band is 16,000 psi. What should the spacing of the bands be near the bottom of the vat? Neglect any initial stress that is applied to the bands.

Hint: Think of how we did the derivation for a cylindrical pressure vessel.
