A canoeist attempts to paddle a canoe due east directly

A canoeist attempts to paddle a canoe due east, directly across a river. Unfortunately there is a current, flowing south at a rate of 3.4 m/s. As measured from the shore the canoe travels in a direction that it 35 degrees south of east. How far can the canoeist paddle in still water? The answer is 4.86m/s but i am getting it incorrect i don't know why.
