Discuss:
You have been presented several viewpoints on leadership:
1) the situational leadership model,
2) Pete DeLisle's Model
3) Goleman's Emotional Intelligence model Prepare a paper regarding one of these three models. In the paper include these elements:
- A brief description of the model
- A description of why the model is relevant and appropriate based on your experience
- Provide an example of an individual who you feel displays the leadership qualities of the model and cite reasons why you chose that person
- Tie in ideas from "Managing Your Boss"; how can the model you've chosen help to accomplish some of the things presented in that article.
The paper should be ~ three pages.
4. From the National Culture link follow the link to "Countries" posted on the left of that page. Read that information and then select a country that you are familiar with, that you have been to, or have some interest in other than the US to get an assessment of the elements of culture of that country. Then select a comparison country. The comparison country should be the US or another country that you have lived in.
Provide a summary of the country and the comparison country regarding the five elements and provide a paragraph or two on what surprised you most in this comparison or what you learned that you did not know before.
5. Consider Herzberg's model of "Hygiene Factors" and "Motivation Factors" as well as the material regarding the Task / Relationship Model. Prepare a paper discussing one of the specific factors described by Herzberg and how this factor relates to the task / relationship model. You may choose to agree or disagree with Herzberg about his conclusion of what motivates employees (with emphasis on professionals not hourly workers). You can choose to write on any of these: achievement, recognition, the work itself, responsibility, advancement, salary, supervision / relationship with supervision, or relationship with peers.
For the paper:
- Include a description of the factor you are discussing
- Describe in some detail how you relate that factor to the task / relationship model
- Provide examples from you experience that support your points
- Use material from a source that was not included in this course to support your discussion (be sure to properly site the source)
- Be clear in the paper to describe whether you agree with Herzberg or disagree
- The paper should be 5 pages
