A bimetallic cantilever beam is made of two components with the same length. The material on top (denoted as material 2) is gold, while material 1 on the bottom is single-crystal silicon (SCS).  The width of both segments is 10 um, and the length of each is 1 mm. Young’s modulus of gold and SCS are 57 GPa and 150 GPa, respectively.  The thickness of the gold is t2 = 0.5 um and the thickness of the SCS is t1 = 1.5 um.  The thermal expansion coefficients of gold and silicon are 14 ppm/oC and 2.33 ppm/oC, respectively.  Find the radius of curvature (r) of the cantilever beam when the beam is uniformly heated to 20oC above room temperature. Determine the amount of vertical displacement at the free end of the beam under this condition.
