A 25 wide and 35 high concrete dam with a 25 deep and 3

1) see attachement

A 25' wide and 35' high concrete dam with a 25' deep and .3' wide cutoff wall at theupstream end of the dam is retaining 25' of water. Bottom of this dam is 5' below the surface of the soil. Assuming zero tail water, please answer the following questions. soil properties for the 55' deep soil layer below which there is an impermeable

and deep rock: k = 10^-3 ft/min , Gs=2.7 and saturated unit weight of soil is 120 pcf

1. Seepage loss per unit length

2. Pore pressures at points A (25feet below the downstream end of the dam), B (25 feet flow atthe midpoint of the dam) and C (25 feet below the upstream end of the dam, just below the tip of the cutoff wall)

3. Exit gradient and possibility of boiling

4. If the weight of a unit with of dam with cutoff wall is 50 kips, compute the factor of safety against the uplift
