A 12m long book shelf is to be supported by two wall

A 1.2m long book shelf is to be supported by two wall brackets. How far apart should the brackets be to give the greatest load-carrying capacity?

[Hint. Where would the shelf fail if the brackets were very far apart? Where would it fail if they were very close together? The optimum situation is when both types of failure are equally likely. Assume that books provide a uniformly distributed load.]
