1ml of distilled water is injected into a length of 3mm diametre tubing and sealed at the other end by folding over and clamping so 1 metre of tubing is occupied by water and trapped air. The tube is pinned to a wall so it hangs vertically nwith the 1ml of water at the bottom end. Why doesn't water drain out when the tube is hung vertically? Is it a stable configuration?
