1. Why do people leave their home country? Think of the conditions of Europe at the time.
2. How hard was it to get to American? what did they have go through, experiences. Just think if I took the class to Mexico City(10 million people) and left you in the center of town? You never have been to Mexico City, what would you do? Now you are in New York, what could they expect?
3. Once they were here, what happened to them? How did America become their home? Who would assimilate first and why? How did they end up in cities like Baltimore, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Chicago?
4. How do you think Americans thought of these immigrants at the time? How do you think Americans feel about today's immigrants? Do you think the feeling would be the same?
