1 the load active input power 2 the load input reactive

Problem:

Three-phase impedance coils are connected in star to a three-phase 400V, 50Hz supply and drawing a line current of 9.6 A at power factor of 0.6 lagging.

(a) Calculate:

(1) The load active input power.

(2) The load input reactive power at the power at the factor of 0.6 lagging.

(3) The load input reactive power at a power of 0.87 lagging

(4) The three-phase kVAr rating of capacitors, Qc, required to raise the full-load power factor from 0.6 to 0.87 lagging.

b. The capacitance per phase, if the capacitors are connected in delta.

c. The capacitance per phase, if the capacitors are connected in star.

d. Compare the values of capacitance, voltage and current per phase of part (b) with those of parts (c).
