2. Pole vault. Pole vault technology has evolved consider- ably since the times of the ancient Greeks and even more recently as new materials have found their way into pole manufacturing. There are currently no regulations on the composition of poles although for safety reasons, there are restrictions on the amount of bend depending on the vaulter's weight. On the other hand, safety considerations have led to the U.S. National High School Federation (NHSF) to require that high school vault landing pads must be no less than 6.0-m wide and 6.15-m long. Should the manufacturers of landing pads treat these as specification or control limits? Explain.
