1. Describe a basic neural circuit and the types and roles of the neurons involved.
2. Describe how the resting membrane potential is established in excitable cells (neurons and muscles).
3. Distinguish between EPSPs and IPSPs and their effect on the membrane potential of the postsynaptic neurons. Discuss the role of different ions (K+, Na+ and Cl-) in the production of EPSPs and IPSPs.
4. Describe why/how IPSPs are important in sensory systems and muscular systems.
