This finding led to the proposition of the theory that any change to the body areas (i.e., somatoplasm) will not have persuade over the reproductive cells (i.e., Germplasm). Therefore Weismann, for the initial time segregated germplasm from the somatoplasm.

This led to the formulation of ‘Germplasm theory’ that states that ‘any change to the somatoplam will not have persuaded over the germplasm’.
