It serves as a basis for functional modelling.  Process specification contains the description of every   functional modules defined in the DFD. State transition diagram describes how the system behaves to external events. It can be a decision making, step. It represents the various modes of the behaviour (called states) and the way in which system transits from on estate to another. Control specification holds the additional information regarding the control aspects of the software responsible for various state transitions. And data objects description provides the complete knowledge about a data object.
