System R:

It was designed and developed over a decade of 1974 to79 at IBM in San Jose Research Center. This is a prototype and its motive was to illustrate that this is possible to build a Relational System which can be used within a real life environment to resolve real life problems, along with presentation at least comparable to which of existing system.
