Stone can be tested in many ways, few are listed as follows:
a) Acid test : A stone specimen is kept atleast for a week time dipped in the solution of sulphuric acid and hydrochloric acid. The corners of the stones due to high alkaline content get converted to the round shape and the small particles will get deposited at the bottom.
b) Hardness test : A penknife is used for carrying out this test. It is used for making a scratch over the hard stone. If the scratch appears over it then the quality of the stone is low.
c) Abrasion test : Deval’s test machine is used to carry out this test. It is used to test the percentage of wear of the stones.
