Relation between the hypothalamus and the hypophysis
Explain the relation between the hypothalamus and the hypophysis?
Expert
The hypothalamus is a part of brain situated above the hypophysis. The hypothalamus gets central and peripheral neural impulses that cause the response of its neurosecretory cells. The axons of these cells go down to the adenohypophysis to regulate the hipophyseal secretions by means of negative response. When the plasma stages of adenohypophyseal hormones are too high the hypothalamus detects this information and commands the interruption of the production of the hormone whereas the blood stage of adenohypophyseal hormone is low down the hypothalamus stimulates the secretion of the hormones. The hypothalamic cells create the hormones released by the neurohypophysis. These hormones are transported by axons to the hypophysis and after that released in the circulation.
