RCC and its comparison with Traditional Concrete
What is meant by RCC? List the advantage of RCC over cement concrete?
Expert
RCC is Reinforced Cement Concrete . A concrete and steel in combination is known as reinforced cement concrete. RCC has the same basic ingredient as conventional concrete have, they are: cement, water and aggregates such as gravel or crushed stone. But unlike conventional concrete, it's a drier mix—stiff enough to be compacted by vibratory rollers. Plain concrete being very weak in tension cannot be used directly in the construction of lintels, roofs, slabs etc. because the bottom fibers are subject to tensile stresses where as RCC is used widely in construction.
