PRINCE2 Processes

PRINCE2 Processes:
A) Directing the project:

  • conducted by senior managers/decision makers
  • define the need for the project and the resources to be allocated

B) Planning:

  • provides a model of the activities, their sequence and duration, resource requirements, and related risks

C) Start up:

  • appointment of project management team
  • assignment of individual objectives
  • drawing up of an agreed “contract” between project organization and the customer/client.

D) Initiation:

  • set the overall project strategy and criteria against which the project will be judged

E) Stage control:

  • control once project activities have started
  • measure and compute performance against objectives to ensure project meets objectives

F) Stage management:

  • at the end of each stage, report on progress , problems encountered, and the implications for the following stage/s.

G) Product delivery:

  • esp. important where there are multiple teams
  • Managing the interfaces, to ensure everyone knows their responsibilities, roles, and any adjustments to the original plan

H) Closure:

  • Shut down the project, its teams and budgets, etc.
  • Provide reports, performance assessment, feedback and lessons for future project management practice
