Phases of menstrual cycle

The menstrual cycle is categorized into two main phases:

a) The follicular or menstrual phase and

b) The luteal or secretory phase.

Menstrual phase begins at first day of the menses and lasts until the ovulation (around 14th day). The luteal phase starts after the ovulation and ends when the menses starts (around 28th day).
