Nervous tissue is composed of neurons and glial cells. The function of nervous tissue is to receive and to transmit neural impulses i.e. reception and transmission of the information. This function validates characteristic morphology of the neurons, with the membrane projections known as dendrites in order to get the information and an elongated membrane projection to transmit the information at the distance. In their turn, glial cells support neurons and facilitate their work.
