Mitochondria as the power plants of aerobic cells
Why can mitochondria be though as the power plants of aerobic cells?
Expert
Mitochondria are the “power plants” of aerobic cells since inside them the final phases of the cellular respiration process take place. Cellular respiration is the procedure of employing organic molecule (that is, mainly glucose) and oxygen to generate carbon dioxide and energy. The energy is stored up in the form of ATP (that is, adenosine triphosphate) molecules and later employed in other cellular metabolic reactions. In mitochondria the last two steps of the cellular respiration occur: the respiratory chain and the Krebs cycle.
