A base transceiver station (or BTS) or cell site is a piece of equipment which enables wireless communication among user equipment (or UE) and a network. UEs are devices such as mobile phones (or handsets), WLL phones, computers with wireless internet connectivity, WiMAX and WiFi gadgets and so on. The network can be that of any of the wireless communication technologies like WLL, CDMA, GSM, WAN, WiMAX, WiFi and so on. BTS is as well referred to as the radio base station (or RBS), node B (in 3G Networks) or, just, the base station (or BS).
