Impact printer presses the formed character that faces against an inked ribbon on to the paper.

For example: A line printer and the dot-matrix printer.

Non-impact printer and plotters uses the inkjet sprays, laser techniques, xerographic process, electrostatic methods and electro thermal techniques to get the images over the papers.

For Example: Inkjet/Laser printers.
