Vitamin E, or tocopherol, is the fat-soluble vitamin which participates as coenzyme within the respiratory chain, final stage of aerobic cellular respiration. Its deficiency can cause sterility, spontaneous abortions and muscle dystrophy. Vitamin E is chiefly found in the corn oil and peanut oil, wheat germ, eggs, milk, and leafy vegetables.
