Enzymes are proteins which are catalysts of the chemical reactions. From the Chemistry it is recognized that catalysts are non-consumable substances which reduce down the activation energy essential for a chemical reaction to happen. Enzymes are highly particular to reactions they catalyze. They are of fundamentally significant for life because most of chemical reactions of cells and tissues are catalyzed by the enzymes. With no enzymatic action those reactions would not happen or would not occur in the needed speed for biological processes in which they partake.
