Meta-stable state : It is an un-known state in between two logical known states. This may happen in case the O/P cap is not permitted in order to charge/discharge completely to the needed logical levels.
One of cases is: In case, there is a setup time violation, meta-stability may happen, in order to prevent this, a series of FFs is employed that will eliminate the intermediate states.
