Defect Removal Efficiency is an important metric which used to measure test effectiveness. From this metric we can know about the number of bugs we found from the set of bugs which we could have found. We need two inputs for calculating the metric: the number of bugs found throughout the development and the number of defects discovered at the end user.
DRE depends on some factors like: -
1. Severity and distribution of bugs should be taken into account.
2. How do we confirm when the customer has found all the bugs? This can be done by looking at the history of the customer.
