Plasma membrane and cell wall is not the similar thing. Plasma membrane, as well named as cell membrane, is outer membrane ordinary to all living cells and it is made of phospholipid bilayer, embedded proteins and a number of appended carbohydrates.

Since the cell membranes are fragile, in some types of cells there are even outer structures which support and shelter the membrane, like cellulose wall of plant cells and chitin wall of some fungi cells. Most bacteria as well present an outer cell wall made of the peptidoglycans and other biotic substances.
