The plant cell whenever placed in hypertonic medium loses a huge amount of water and its cell membrane separates from the cell wall. In that condition the cell is termed as a plasmolysed cell. Whenever the plasmolysed cell is positioned in hypertonic medium it absorbs water and becomes a turgid cell. This phenomenon is termed as deplasmolysis.
