The data unit in LLC level is termed as the protocol data unit (abbreviated as PDU). The PDU comprises of four fields a destination service access point (abbreviated as DSAP), a source service access point (abbreviated as SSAP), a control field and an information field. DSAP, SSAP are addresses employed by the LLC to recognize the protocol stacks on receiving and sending machines which are generating and employing the data. The control field states whether the PDU frame is an information frame (I-frame) or a supervisory frame (S-frame) or an unnumbered frame (U-frame).
