Switching techniques are employed for transmitting data across the networks. Various types are:
A) Circuit Switching: In Circuit Switching technique, at first, the complete end-to-end transmission path among the source and the destination computers is established and then the message is transmitted via the path. The main benefit of this method is assured delivery of the message. Mostly employed for voice communication.
B) Message Switching: In Message switching technique, no physical path is established among sender and receiver in advance. This method obeys the store and forward mechanism.
C) Packet Switching: In this switching method fixed size of packet can be transmitted across the network.
