The pineal gland is also known as epiphysis or pineal body, is situated in center of the head. Hormone melatonin is secreted by pineal gland. It is a hormone produced at night and it is related to the regulation of the circadian rhythm (or circadian cycle or the wakefulness-sleep cycle). Melatonins possibly regulate numerous body functions related to the night-day alternation.
