Colors of electromagnetic spectrum absorbed by plants
Describe the colors of the electromagnetic spectrum which is absorbed by plants? What would occur to photosynthesis when the green light waves that reach a vegetable were obstructed?
Expert
The Chlorophyll absorbs all other colors of the electromagnetic spectrum however it practically does not absorb the green. The green color is reflected and this reflection gives the characteristic color of plants. When the green light that reaches a plant is obstructed and exposure of the plant to other colors is maintained there would be no damage to the photosynthesis procedure. Apparent paradox: the green light is not significant for photosynthesis.
There is a basic difference between the optimum color frequencies for the two main kinds of chlorophyll, the chlorophyll A and the chlorophyll B. Chlorophyll A consists of an absorption peak at around 420 nm wavelength (anil) and chlorophyll B has its major absorption in 450 nm wavelength (that is, blue).
