1. Classical Approach : Also named as engineering approach, it was formed by F.W. Taylor and his associates. The principles of scientific management formed basis for designing jobs in most Organizations. These principles focus on the standardizing, planning and improving human effort at the operative level in order to make the most of the productivity. 2. Behavioral Approach : The results of Elton Mayo, Frederick Herzberg and human relations experts led to search for alternative manners of designing jobs so as to avoid the dysfunctional effects of standardization and simplification. Job re-design, work structuring, job enhancement, participative system and other same policies were developed to improve quality of the work life.
