Explain the advantage of job enlargement?

Job enlargement has the following advantages:

1. Increase in diversity of jobs

2. Job satisfaction

3. Provides wholeness and identity with the task and increases the knowledge necessary to perform it.

4. Provides variety of skills.

5. Reduces tension and boredom.

6. Trains and develops more versatile employees.

Despite these advantages this is not a completely satisfactory method of job design as it does not increase the complexity of a job. Inflated jobs involve longer training time period as there are more responsibilities to be learned.
