Facilitated diffusion can be confused with the active transport since in both procedures there is participation of the membrane proteins.
In the active transport however the transported substance moves beside its concentration gradient and with energy spent. Facilitated diffusion is the passive transport in favor of concentration gradient and it doesn’t need energy.
