Financial statement analysis project (instructions)
You are asked to act as financial analysts to engage in investment analysis for two selected U.S. companies. These two companies need to be in the same industry and have similar sizes in tems of total assets, revenue, or market capitalization for comparison purposes. You can use a pair of companies that I have suggested or choose your own companies. Only one c. work on each pair of comp.ies so you should let me know which pairzroup you select as .on as possible since the assi.ment of pairs will be on a first come first serve basis.
You have to produce an investment analysis report and present your investment recommendation to potential investors in the last class. The report should include:
(1) Brief company profile and company history
(2)SWOT analysis for each company
(3)Stock price comparison
(4)Ratio analysis
a. Which ratios are most important to understand the company's operations and compare to other comp.ies in the industry;
b. Discuss the interpretation of the ratios;
c. Indicate how these ratios compare for the two companies you analyze.
The objectives of the term project are to
(1) Apply financial ratios of profitability, liquidity, and leverage to evaluate the performance of actual companies;
(2) Engage in detailed financial analyses using the financial statements in a real-world Mang;
Students are needs to present their investment recommendations and give the instructor one hard copy and an electronic version of the group report (no more than seven pages for the main cont. and two pages for the references and appendix).
