In your opinion, are you better off saving money or spending money? Why? Please explain.
Hint: Given what we have learned this quarter, are you happier/better off spending money or saving money from your personal perspective? Then take the question from a more macroeconomic perspective...does your spending or saving make the economy as a whole better off (and thus indirectly you)? How or why?
Requirement
I am interested in discovering your ability to assimilate the information and the knowledge you have acquired from this class and apply it to these questions. So, think of yourself as the economics expert here and show me what you know!
Your grade will be determined by how well you substantiate/support your points of contention, and how well you incorporate the concepts we have been learning about in class into your written response. I am looking for a written response that has been deliberated upon, where you have invested some time and attention into the assignment, and not something you have cobbled together in about 10 minutes.
In terms of the length of each response, I would like to see a minimum of 3 to 4 well-developed paragraphs per question. Of course, the word count may vary. But anything less than 3 to 4 paragraphs is too truncated in my opinion, and will likely earn fewer points.
As such, a hastily prepared written response containing one or two paragraphs consisting of one or two points of contention made supported by a couple of concepts from class will likely receive a low score. On the other hand, a polished, well-organized, adequately supported written response that flows well from beginning to end will likely receive high marks. And hasty or thorough, the beauty is that it is your choice to make. And remember, all choices have opportunity costs!
