What particular topics you want to address in your pamphlet

Assignment: Creating an Educational Pamphlet on Puberty

Directions: For this activity, you will reflect on your own experiences during puberty and create a pamphlet on puberty similar to one you might see in a doctor's or counselor's Dffice that addresses information you wish you had known at that time. Your responses to parts 1 and 2 should also be submitted to the appropriate dropbox for this assignment and will count as part of this assignment.

1. Prewriting Exercise: Recall your late elementary school and junior high school days. Identify yourself as early, late, or about on time in physical maturation with respect to your peers. Reflect on your experiences during puberty and answer the following questions:

a. How did your feelings about yourself change as a result of your body's changes? How did your family treat you as a result of these changes? Friends? Teachers?

b. What are some details about sexual maturity and puberty that you wish you had known more about before experiencing them personally? What kinds of things were you never told? What misinformation about puberty and sexual development did you have?

2. Logistics: Using your answers to the above questions as a guide, identify ideas for a new pamphlet about puberty that you could distribute to prepubescent teenagers. Remember to use the information from the textbook, notes, and other sources to help you. Below are some things to consider as you construct your pamphlet.

a. What particular topics do you want to address in your pamphlet? Why?

b. How can you make the pamphlet look interesting to preteens without being threatening, embarrassing, or preachy? What information should you include? How many pages should your pamphlet have?

c. How should you design the pamphlet so it would be useful to all preteens, regardless of whether they are early, late, or on-time developers?

3. Putting It All Together in an Educational Pamphlet: Once you have decided on the information that should be included, design a prototype pamphlet that can be uploaded in a separate file to the dropbox. Be creative. The end product should represent your own work (i.e., use information you find in other sources, but say it in your own words). If you include pictures, diagrams, or other features in your pamphlet, all content should be referenced/cited appropriately.

Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.

3. Also include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
