1. Composers who write for solo piano are very careful to create mood in their music. After all, they only have one performer to work with - the pianist. How does Mendelssohn create the sound of water in this piece? In other words, where do you hear the scene being set, and how?
2. What mood is Mendelssohn creating with this piece? How does the music maintain and enhance that mood as the piece continues?
3. Why do you think Mendelssohn created such a mood for a piece titled "September"?
