History Assignment
Because there are three modules and lots of information this week, I have decided to not have you respond to another student. Instead, this post is worth the entire 30 points. Please ensure that each of your answers is at least 7 sentences in length.
1. You are an African American fighting in a segregated unit in World War II. Describe your experiences while you are in the war.
2. I once had a student who argued that "Japanese internment camps weren't that bad." How would you have responded to this student based on what you have learned and what your perspective is.
3. You are a Jewish teenage girl living in New York in 1943. Members of Nazi-sympathizers are holding a rally against Jews just blocks from your family's home. Describe your thoughts.
4. What is your take on the dropping of the A-bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Provide specific historical detail from the "Issues and Controversies in American History" article I posted this week.
5. Choose one civil rights organization, and describe it. When did it develop? Why? What were the goals? Did the organization achieve its goals? Defend your position.
6. Do you believe that the United States was against communism because of the principles it is founded on, or because communist nations threatened the economic expansion and imperialism of communist nations and its allies? Explain.
7. Describe the My Lai Massacre, and how it made you feel. How did this event change the tide of the Vietnam War? Explain.
