In this assignment, annotate and take notes onan article of your choice.Remember, you can find tools and Word templates in Blackboard (under Resources).
SETUP
1. Find an article online.
2. Use PrintFriendly website to convert the article into a PDF.
3. Open the article in Adobe Reader for annotation.
4. Under Resources, download a Word Template.
PREVIEW
1. Before reading, preview the article and answer thesequestionsin your Word document:
• What does the title suggest about the article's focus?
• What are some of the main sections of the article?
• What do you think the author's point of view might be, and what gives you this impression?
2. Save and continue.
INTEGRATE KNOWLEDGE
1. Read andannotate the article by highlighting and leaving comments.
2. In your annotations,highlight and label evidence of the author's point of view:
• Identify and label some facts and opinions.
• Identify and label clues as to the author's tone.
• If the author uses should statements or value words, highlight and label those too.
3. Save the PDF.
RECALL
1. In your Word document, take notes on the article, capturing its main idea and major supporting details.
2. Summarize and reflect on the article. In your reflection, answer thesequestions:
• What is the author's point of view, or bias?
• How can you tell? Provide examples from the text.
• Also, what is the author's purpose for writing this article? How can you tell?
• How does the author's bias affect the way information is presented?
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
3. Also include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
