One topic that our texts do not cover as much as I'd like is families headed by same sex couples. This topic is treated differently both across cultures and across time. This extra learning opportunity is designed to allow you to explore this topic a bit more on your own. Using the ASU library, do a literature search for the culture of your choosing and same sex couples or families. Please use journal articles, not opinion pieces.
Answer the following:
• Use what you have learned earlier in this course to tell us about the study. Was the person collecting the data an insider or outsider? Was the data quantitative or qualitative?
• Discuss the results of the study, but also the "future directions" or "next steps" that the author writes.
• Is the culture you chose to explore more or less accepting of this type of family than your own?
• Talk about the findings in context of the culture in which the study was conducted.
