Taking a stand on an issue is an important part of writing persuasively. For this assessment, write a 500-600word (2-3 pages double-spaced) essay that states your position on an issue of your choice. Refer to thehandout titled "Topics for Research Paper: Creating a Visual Argument" given at the end of the studyguide, to view the list of topics. You may choose to work on a topic given in this handout or you may workon a different topic. With your instructor's approval, you may select your own topic. This is not a researchpaper, so do not use references; develop your own reasons, explanations, and examples.Your essay should include the following:? A paragraph of introduction that gives some context or background about the issue.? A one-sentence thesis where you state your position on the issue and then give three reasons forholding that position. This thesis should be the last sentence of the first paragraph.? At least three body paragraphs where you develop support for your position. You should not usesources for this paper; your support should be based on your own reasoning, explanation, andexamples, not sources.? A paragraph where you offer your final thoughts on the issue, summarize your major points, andleave the reader with something to consider in relation to your position on the paper.Tip: Remember that this is an argumentative, not merely an informative, paper. So, ensure that you take astance on this topic and make it strong enough that someone could disagree with you.For example:?
