Surveys of young people in recent years suggest that employers trying to replace millions of retiring baby boomers may need to demonstrate a social commitment in order to be fully competitive in the hiring market. One of those surveys found that two-thirds of respondents 18 to 26 prefer jobs that would permit them to make a contribution to nonprofit groups.
