State immunity and diplomatic immunity


Question 1:

(i) Apart from treaty laws what are the other sources of the international law?  Is Article 38 of the Statute of International Court of Justice sufficient to define them?

(ii) Treaties are international agreements governed, not by the contract law, but by Vienna Convention on Treaty Law 1969.  Under it, states can do anything they covet to agree to, unless it violates a peremptory norm. Discuss and explain.

“States aren’t the only actors of international law – there are as well people, corporations and international organisations – but states are the big ones.”  Examine this statement.

Question 3:

“It has been the practice of states to claim jurisdictional rights in zone of waters beyond the outer edge of the territorial sea i.e. the contiguous zone and the exclusive economic zone”. Examine this statement.

Question 4:

(i) Illustrate out how is International law applied in domestic legal system?

(ii) Make a distinction between state immunity and diplomatic immunity?
