Visit the Bureau of Economic Analysis Web site (www.bea.gov (Links to an external site.)) and review the data regarding recent percent change from preceding period in real GDP. Note the trends in the percentage change in real GDP and its major components in recent years. In addition, visit the Bureau of Labor Statistics Web site (www.bls.gov (Links to an external site.)) and review the recent trends in the unemployment rate and inflation rates. Then visit both the Republicans' (www.gop.com (Links to an external site.)) and the Democrats' (www.democrats.org (Links to an external site.)) Web sites. Discuss how each party uses information about economic growth, jobs, and inflation to support their respective positions. State which party you believe is most objective in its use of economic data and explain the reason(s) for your choice. Remember to respect the opinions of others just as you would in a face-to-face class.
