Part One, Topic Selection (Moral Issue in my community). Immigrants are considered second to Natives (Americans).

The societal engagement provides a significant focus on some of the critical issues, which need to be discussed and provide a beneficial environment where it is possible to achieve a higher level of engagement within a given community. Moral issues define individual relations within a community environment. Moral issues, therefore, involve a difference in ideologies where an idea that is held by a specific group might harm the wellbeing of others within the same social environment. Thus, they are issues that involve a difference in belief rather than preference. Moral issues are also explained based on a similar perspective with ethical issues since they focus on developing a higher level of understanding within a given social environment (Ljunge, 2014). Therefore, a moral issue that will form the basis of this research is the current issue within my community where immigrants are considered second to natives (Americans). The idea that an individual has more right to a safe country than another individual because they are born in the country is a significant moral issue that needs to be highly engaged.

The consideration of immigrants as second to natives is a moral issue because this notion advances a very complicated idea that is based on open discrimination against one another. The immigrants have same rights as natives, and no specific element creates a difference between them and the natives. This moral issue has created significant differences between the natives and immigrants since the immigrants consider themselves as being inferior to natives. Even though it is true that immigrants are born in other countries, the fact that they live together with natives should form an essential background where they need to develop positive relations with natives without any form of discrimination.

Discrimination within the society is a serious societal issue, which is based on the existing stereotypes and ideologies against immigrants. A critical stereotype that exists among the natives is that immigrants come to create unnecessary competition on the existing resources and jobs and thus create a negative attitude towards the immigrants. It is essential to understand that immigrants usually come because of different reason with a key reason being a search for better lives since most of them comes from unstable countries where there is war because of political or social differences between citizens. It is, therefore, necessary to show love to such individuals to understand the exact definition of humanity and not to see them as competition, which is based on negative stereotypes that have been created (Caldwell-Harris, 2015).

The existing difference in values and cultural beliefs should form the basis under which diversity within the community should be appreciated and ensure that individuals live harmoniously where they interact freely without any limitations. Discriminatory issues were rampant in the past, and thus there is need to maintain moral and ethical standards where it is possible to ensure that there are positive interactions between individuals regardless of their background. Morality is based on a crucial focus on the needs of each other where individuals can be able to coexist and advance similar ideologies to promote better societal moral standards (Oberman, 2017).
